Bellissa Plastic Surgery & Medispa, board certified plastic surgeon Maida Parkins, MD, and FM106.1 are teaming up to increase breast reconstruction awareness by giving away concert tickets to the sold out event, “Chicks with Picks.” The concert is on October 17th at the Red Rock Saloon in Milwaukee and is an intimate, acoustic concert showcasing the best female up-and-coming country talent.
For a chance to win tickets, attend the Bellisa Plastic Surgery & Medispa Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Day celebration on October 1st from 5pm-7pm at Watertown Regional Medical Center. Five pairs of tickets will be given away and all attendees receive an entry! The event will include appetizers, wine and raffle items. Breast cancer survivors will be honored, and the creatively decorated bras will be displayed and judged by all attendees. It’s a fun, lighthearted way to call attention to a very important issue for women.
BRA Day is a national observance, to help ensure that women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer and have or will be undergoing a full or partial mastectomy are aware of their breast reconstruction options.
National statistics show that 7 out of 10 American women are not aware of their reconstruction options following a mastectomy. Breast reconstruction is achieved through several plastic surgery techniques that attempt to restore a breast to near normal shape, appearance, and size during or after a mastectomy and, in some cases, a lumpectomy. While it’s not the right option for every woman, breast reconstruction can be life changing for many breast cancer survivors. Reconstruction can take place at the same time as a mastectomy or many months or years following the completion of treatment. Each situation is different, and women interested in learning more about their options should seek a free, private consultation with their plastic surgeon.
